Summary: Our in-house‑developed photodetector is a type of light‑sensitive detector, also known as a PMT. When the photosensitive surface detects extremely weak light, it generates free electrons, which are then accelerated by a high voltage to produce secondary electrons at the opposite electrode, thereby forming a photocurrent. Ultimately, the optical signal is converted into an electrical signal and, after amplification, is output. Our photodetectors offer advantages such as high sensitivity, high detection efficiency, and exceptional reliability. Their sensitivity exceeds that of conventional photodiodes by several orders of magnitude.
I. Introduction
Our in-house‑developed photodetector is a type of light‑sensitive detector, also known as a PMT. When the photosensitive surface detects extremely weak light, it generates free electrons; under a high voltage, these electrons are accelerated and strike the opposite electrode, producing secondary electrons and thereby forming a photocurrent. Ultimately, the optical signal is converted into an electrical signal, amplified, and output. Our photodetectors offer advantages such as high sensitivity, high detection efficiency, and exceptional reliability, with a sensitivity several orders of magnitude greater than that of conventional photodiodes.
II. Applications
Our company’s photodetectors are widely applicable in fields such as biomedicine, imaging instruments, spectroscopy, particle physics experiments, nuclear physics, and astronomy.
In biomedicine, it can be used for fluorescence probe detection and biological microscopy.
In imaging devices such as night vision goggles, photoelectric detectors can amplify faint light signals for observation and recording.
In spectroscopic measurements, it can be used to sort and record optical signals according to wavelength, enabling the analysis of a substance’s composition and structure.
In particle physics experiments, it can serve as a readout device for particle detectors, converting the light signals produced by particle–matter interactions into electrical signals and amplifying them. By measuring parameters such as a particle’s position and energy, one can investigate its properties and the laws governing its interactions, which is of great significance for unraveling the mysteries of the universe.
In nuclear physics experiments, it can be used to detect the decay processes of radioactive nuclides.
In astronomy, it can be used for celestial observations and the detection of cosmic rays.
This photodetector can also be applied in areas such as environmental monitoring, industrial inspection, blood analysis, oil exploration, environmental measurement, semiconductor manufacturing, and materials development.
III. Significance
It converts faint optical signals into detectable electrical signals for analysis, enabling the exploration of realms invisible to the human eye.
